Letter to Teacher Explaining Mental Health Absence

#1

I am writing on behalf of my son, XYZ, who studies in grade seven in your class. I want to inform you about his recent absence from school during the last 2 days. He has been unable to attend his classes due to some mental health issues.

My son has been going through a great deal of peer pressure. He has been one of the top students in his class. Additionally, he is also the football team captain. He has been under the burden of performing well both academically and in sports. As a result, he has been suffering from mental stress and anxiety. Being his parents, my wife and I observed the changes in his behavior and health and decided that it was best for him to take a few days off from school.

We would like him to extend his leave to an entire week. He shall rejoin on Monday, the 11th of March. We would also like to request your cooperation. Kindly help him deal with the pressure of school.

Thank you for your attention to this matter.

This is to inform you that I will not be able to attend my classes for a few days. I have been suffering from depression after the loss of a dear one in the family. I, therefore, request your understanding and cooperation.

I’m in a state of shock and grief. I find it hard to concentrate on my studies and don’t feel like socializing with anyone at college. I believe a few days off will help me regain my composure.

I hope you understand my situation. Thank you for your consideration.

This is concerning the recent case of bullying faced by my son [name] at school. I appreciate the way the teachers and the school management handled the case. However, despite your reassurance, XYZ feels apprehensive about returning to school. His mental health has been deeply affected by the incident. I, therefore, feel it is best to let him take off from school for a while.

I would appreciate your cooperation regarding this matter. Kindly email me updates about each day’s classwork and homework assignments. I will try to homeschool XYZ until he feels confident enough to return to his regular classes.

Thank you for your attention to this matter.

I am the mother of XYZ, grade 6. Thank you for your concern regarding my daughter’s recent absence from school. I would like to provide you with an explanation.

XYZ has been having trouble adjusting to her new school since we just moved to this town. She hasn’t been able to make any friends yet, and the new environment seems frightening to her. As a result, she has been suffering from depression and anxiety. I believe she needs some time off from school. During this time, I will try my best to counsel her about settling down in a new place. Hopefully, she will be happy to return to school soon.

I would also like to request that you make her feel welcome and help her make new friends once she gets back to school. I’d appreciate your cooperation.

Thank you for your understanding and consideration.
